Lightcast Discovery is a Cambridge-based company commercialising a proprietary liquid handling technology for biopharmaceutical research and development.
Using light to control the movement of very small droplets of liquid, the Lightcast Discovery platform simplifies and shortens complex cell analysis and drug discovery workflows. The Company has PoC development partnerships with large biopharma partners to build on initial capabilities, and targets commercialising a benchtop instrument within three years, addressing an unmet need for automating cell line development and biopharmaceutical discovery.

Leadership Profile
Paul has served as CEO of Lightcast Discovery since December 2020, guiding the Cambridge-based life science tools company through its development and into commercial launch. Under his leadership, Lightcast has introduced its Envisia™ single-cell functional analysis platform.
Paul brings extensive experience in scientific instrumentation, having previously held senior roles at Agilent Technologies, including VP and General Manager of Molecular Spectroscopy. He also served as CEO of Cobalt Light Systems prior to its acquisition by Agilent in 2017, and as CEO of Oxford Diffraction Ltd from 2001 to 2009. Earlier in his career, he conducted research at the European Synchrotron Radiation Facility, the European Molecular Biology Laboratory, and CERN.
He holds a PhD in Physics from the University of Warwick and an MBA from Oxford Brookes University.
